Knudsen named to Capital One Academic first-team

BILLINGS - Montana State University Billings women's basketball student-athlete Bobbi Knudsen has been recognized for her hard work off the court, as she was recently named to the Capital One Academic NCAA Division II Women's Basketball All-District Eight First-Team.

The Capital One Academic All-America program is presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) in an effort to recognize student-athletes who have excelled both on and off the field of play.

"Bobbi is very deserving of this prestigious honor and represents everything you want in a student-athlete," head coach Kevin Woodin said. "She possesses great character and consistently gives an outstanding effort in the classroom and on the basketball court."

Having been named to the First-Team, Knudsen is eligible for Academic All-America consideration which will be selected and announced later this month.

A sophomore and native of Malta, Mont., Knudsen leads the Yellowjacket women as the team's starting point guard averaging a Great Northwest Athletic Conference second-best 16.6 points per game in her 22 starts this season. She also leads the team with 365 total points, a 40.1% shooting performance, 43 steals and 84 assists so far this season and is second on the squad with 32 total three-pointers.

Knudsen has been the leading scorer for MSUB 17 times this season including scoring a season-high 22 points in a home-win over Western Oregon University on Dec. 31.

The Malta High School product currently boasts a 3.83 grade point average as a secondary education major.

Knudsen is one of four total female student-athletes to be named in the distinction from the GNAC. Joining Knudsen are the University of Alaska Anchorage's Hanna Johansson, the University of Alaska Fairbanks' Nicole Bozek and Seattle Pacific University's Katie Benson.
