BILLINGS - Homeless veterans received some advice and help today at a "stand down for Veterans" in Billings.
Senator Jon Tester spoke with veterans about their concerns and potential legislation that affects them.
Eighteen organizations were represented at the Stand down at North Park.
The Stand down gives veterans information about available services and how to get them.
"They've served us and we may not have done a good enough job serving them," said PJ Treide, director of development for Volunteers of America Wyoming-Montana. "And that's another reason we're out here today identifying those people to get them help."
"This is important to let homeless veterans know that people do care," said Jim Kerr, Treasurer of Disabled American Veterans. "They get to come in here and get advice on their benefits, maybe pick up some clothing. Our chapter 10 wants them to know there is transportation available."
The Treasure State Veterans Assistance Organization sponsored the Stand Down in previous years.
But now the Volunteers of America Wyoming Montana sponsors the Stand Down.
