Vic Miller takes on Key West

Posted 10:28 AM 4/26/2012 by Vic Miller

My wife and I recently spent two weeks in the Florida Keys and had a great time. It was our first visit to Florida and it was easy to see why a number of people migrate there to spend the winter.

Our flight from Atlanta to Key West was on a smaller plane. A young kid got on board, looked at (More)

BILLINGS - A number of school districts across the state have had to deal with some big time problems in recent years. In rural areas it's often a case of not having enough students to keep the school open. In urban areas it's often a case of having plenty students but having them in the (More)

Posted 8:38 AM 2/9/2012 by Vic Miller's Commentary

My friend Slab Marble called and asked for an update on my campaign to be the next president of the United States as the candidate of the Bull and Cow Moose party. I told him that unfortunately I'd decided to join Rick Perry and the other candidates who had terminated their campaigns.

Vic Miller gives his two cents on term limits

    Posted 9:31 PM 1/26/2012

Over the years I have had some interesting discussions with people about term limits for politicians. We have term limits for most of our officials in Montana including the Governor and members of the Montana Legislature. It was the result of a Constitutional Initiative that was on the ballot in (More)

    Thought provoking roadkill bill

Posted 8:07 AM 1/12/2012 by Vic Miller Commentary

It's hard to believe but it appears that Illinois legislators beat Montana legislators to the punch with at least one thought provoking bill. They passed a proposal that allows anyone with an Illinois furbearing license to salvage pelts and even food from roadkill along the highways. The bill (More)

    Slab New Year

Posted 10:09 AM 1/5/2012 by Vic Miller Commentary

I saw my friend Slab Marble recently and wished him a belated Happy New Year and he said ditto. I then asked him if he had celebrated the beginning of 2012 with a bang and he said those days were long gone. He told me this year he didn't leave home and had a hard time staying awake until (More)

Posted 5:32 PM 10/28/2011 by Vic Miller

Billings - Several people have asked me how I came out in my dispute with the city of Billings over a new water meter they installed. To recap, a while back the city advised me that they were going to stop by our house and install a new water meter. My old water meter was working just fine so (More)

My wife and I recently joined our youngest son, his wife and their three children on a trip to Disneyland.

Our trip got off to a somewhat shaky start when airport security at the Billings airport caught me trying to take a knife onto the airplane. I would hasten to point out that this was (More)

    Commentary: The old gray slab

Posted 10:37 AM 5/19/2011 by Vic Miller

I hadn't heard from my friend Slab Marble for a while so called to check and make sure his distemper hadn't flared up. Slab picked up the phone and said he'd just finished dying his hair. He told me he'd heard that new census figures show Montana has gotten grayer and he wanted to do his bit to (More)

    Commentary: Willard made things happen

Posted 8:18 AM 4/28/2011 by Vic Miller

I've lived in Billings for more than half a century and during that time have known some colorful characters. Among them was a man named Willard Fraser who jammed a lot of living into his 65 years before dying of a heart attack.

Willard served six terms as Mayor of Billings and loved every (More)
